Feng is the first golfer from mainland China to win a major American golf tournament
RALEIGH, NC – The Commerce Hotel & Casino has signed a sponsorship and personal services agreement with China’s Shanshan Feng. The agreement was negotiated on Commerce’s behalf by Raleigh’s PSE-3, a sports and entertainment sales, marketing and communications firm.
In 2012, Feng became the first golfer from mainland China to win a women’s or men’s major tournament, firing a 5-under-par 67 to come from three shots back to win the Wegmans LPGA Championship. She finished the 2012 season fifth in the Rolex World Ranking and tenth on the LPGA money list by banking over $1.1 million. So far in 2013, Feng has posted six top-10 finishes in just 11 events, including a ninth-place finish in the recent U.S. Women’s Open.
“I’m very excited to be a member of Commerce family”, Said Feng. “As a leading hotel and entertainment brand, Commerce has always been a prestigious sponsor for a variety of sports. I believe it will be a wonderful partnership and I really look forward to that.”
“Each year we host tens of thousands of international visitors,” Commerce Hotel & Casino General Manager Jeff Harris said. “Aligning with a budding golf superstar with a huge international following is a natural extension of our marketing initiatives.”
Grant Slack, senior vice-president of IMG Golf Asia Pacific, said, “This alliance is the perfect fit for both Shanshan and Commerce. As an iconic Chinese golfer, Shanshan’s association with Commerce will be instrumental to the further development of Commerce brand globally, especially in the marketplace of Asia.”
Commerce Hotel & Casino is the world’s largest poker casino and is located in the Los Angeles suburb of Commerce. In addition to displaying the Commerce brand on her competitive clothing, Feng will make several personal appearances for Commerce during the 2013 season.
